Cologne-A little late ;)

So on Thanksgiving I went to Cologne for a DAAD tagung with my work. We had a workshop on writing for the Internet, including how to write blogs. Of course this would be for those who blog newsreports and stuff and actually want a lot of people to read their blogs. However, I will not bore you with the specifics on writing, as either you already know how to, or you don't need professional writing skills. :)
So instead I will talk about the more fun parts. As I already said we took the train to Cologne on the 25th of November. From the train station, we (my co-worker and I) walked to our hotel, which due to our lack of knowledge of where we were going took about an hour. I would complain about this, but really the exercise was nice, although carrying a heavy bag for that much is not so much fun. Once we arrived at the Hotel, it was time to go to dinner with the DAAD group. We ended up being a little bit late, however we were not the latest of the group ;)!
Dinner was awesome and yummy! Once the group leaders left, we finished up dinner, we had some nice conversation and a guy randomly bought everyone a glass of Kölsch since we let him have a part of our buffet. Post-eating, we decided to go out, as a group, get to know everyone. We started at the Christmas Market which was unfortunately already closed, and then we ended up at a random karaoke bar. Two of the group were even willing to sing so it was fun!! Since the workshops would start early the next morning, most of us decided to go back to the hotel and sleep.
On Saturday, after the workshop, which took most of the day but was awesome, the DAAD made sure that we would have some free time. With some of the kids of my writing group, we decided to go over the Christmas Market in front of the Cathedral, which in and of itself is impressive. But even the Christmas Market was quite awesome. We decided to eat some yummy steak on bred, and then looked over the rest of the booths. As we all had a long day, we decided not to go out, instead we went back to the hotel and watched a movie together. The Kite Runner, was a very good movie and we all ended up getting enough sleep, to get up early and be there for the closing remarks the next morning.
It was impressive how quickly we all seemed to make friends. Even now many of us still keep in touch on Facebook or on Skype. We are even planning on meeting up again! Cologne, even though only 3days, was quite an experience, one that I would love to repeat!!
